Our Story

Mojave Moon Apothecary is a small business based in Twentynine Palms, California just outside the north entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. Founded in 2020 somewhere between the sprawling landscapes of Los Angeles and the windswept panoramas of the Mojave Desert, Mojave Moon Apothecary is my love letter to the sights and smells of Southern California. Drawing inspiration from new age shops and botanicas, I wanted to take sacred materials and herbs that have become trivialized and commodified over the years and re-imagine them in an elevated and beautiful way. I try to honor the historical and cultural significance of my materials in the way my products are presented with a focus on organic oils, sustainable sourcing and recyclable, reusable packaging wherever possible. Everything in my line is formulated drop-by-drop and made in very small batches. The ritual of creation in this slow and intentional way becomes almost a meditation for me and I hope these products will inspire you to create self-care rituals of your own.

Palo Santo and Sage

 Our Values

We honor our heritage by donating 10% of our sales of White Sage and Palo Santo to The Native American Rights Fund (NARF). Founded in 1970, the Native American Rights Fund is the oldest and largest nonprofit legal organization asserting and defending the rights of Native tribes, organizations, and individuals nationwide.

Many people don’t know that it was illegal and punishable by prison sentence for Native people in the United States to practice their religious ceremonies until less than 50 years ago. It wasn’t until the American Indian Religious Freedom Act (AIRFA) was passed in 1978 that Native people were guaranteed the freedom and protection to “believe, express, and exercise [their] traditional religions” which included the use of sage.

We have the utmost respect for these sacred cultural traditions and are committed to the ethical sourcing and use of sacred materials. Our Palo Santo is SERFOR certified by the National System of Forestry and Wildlife in Peru, and our White Sage is sustainably harvested from a small, Native-owned family farm located here in the mountains of Southern California.

Building Stronger Communities Together

We are eternally grateful for our local desert community and have a deep commitment to supporting the organizations that make this area so special.

Each year we proudly donate to local and regional non-profits including The Native American Land Conservancy and The Copper Mountain College Community Foundation. In 2023, we helped raise over $2000 for Landers Elementary and The Joshua Tree No-Kill Animal Shelter through prize donations to Desert Bingo. In 2024, we are excited to be a continuing business sponsor of the 29 Palms Art Gallery and to sponsor an Arts Innovator Micro Grant through The San Bernardino Arts Connection. If you are an artist living and working full-time in SB County are interested in applying for this grant, please click here.

Through our financial contributions, we wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity to be a part of something bigger, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve and the communities we call home.

Mojave Moon Apothecary has been such a labor of love for me and I am humbled and inspired by your support. If you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out anytime. I love hearing your feedback!
